As some of the other students, first entering into this class I did not know what to expect, I thought, "ah another gen ed class," However, after the first day of class, I was interested in what was to come of the class, The in class activity on the first day is what really did it for me, peaked my interest so to speak. We were divided up into groups and were asked to work together in creating a poster board of what we expected from the class, it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed all the activities Karen had us do, especially the personality card game.
There were a lot of writing assignments on top of blogging, at times I felt that the class should be a 4 credit class with all the writing we had to do. The three major writing assignments were difficult for me, since I'm not crazy about writing in the first place but the words eventually came and I think I did a OK job on the assignments. I really like the "This I Believe" assignment. This assignment required me to write and use recording and movie making software which I would of never used. It is really cool to see the work all put together.
In the end I really enjoyed this class. There were hard times in this class with having to write so much but I'm glad I took the class, I learned a lot about myself and met some pretty cool people in other majors that I would of most likely never would of met such as Ian, who helped me with my movie making, which I really appreciated. Also the class has prepared me for what to expect in preparing to graduate. I know I still have a lot to do before then. Many of the students in the class are graduating, I wish everyone the best of luck in their careers and much success!
Thank you for the feedback, Misty. I know it is a lot of writing and that is for a number of reasons, including to make sure that students who are ready to graduate have one last opportunity to hone their writing and presentation skills. You were able to accomplish a lot with your busy schedule.
